The 18×8.5 +45 offset is a moderately aggressive setup for the Golf R platform, sitting near the outer edge of conservative fitment where modest fender roll or minor trimming may become necessary depending on suspension geometry and trim. Square fitment (matching front and rear widths) with this offset typically works well on the R's 5×112 hub, though lowering via coilovers will progressively require attention to inner fender clearance. A square tire in the 225–235 range suits this wheel diameter and width without excessive stretch.
